Install and update Apps without resetting your data

Review the App versions to apply, follow preparation, and recover safely from an interrupted update.

Last reviewed October 16, 2026

Before you start

Open Settings → App Catalog in the company where you work. Viewing the catalog and managing Apps require separate permissions. If you can only view it, ask someone with App management permission to make the change.

Save unfinished work before changing an App. Installation does not automatically grant everyone access to its data.

Request an installation or update

  1. Find the App and open its action menu. Choose Install, Update, or Reactivate, according to its current state.
  2. Read the confirmation list of Apps and versions. Required Apps may be included; confirm the whole list before continuing.
  3. Confirm the request. Preparation proceeds in the background and keeps existing App data. The catalog refreshes its status automatically.
  4. If the new version is prepared but waiting to go live, wait for activation. Apps already in use remain available during that wait. A preparation message alone does not mean the new version is active.

You can cancel a queued request using its cancel action. Once execution starts, that action is no longer offered. Do not send duplicate requests because preparation takes time.

Confirm completion and access

Check the App's status and displayed installed version, then open its work screen and confirm your existing records remain available. For a new installation, complete the initial-access decision when prompted. Give users only the access needed for their work.

Recover a failed preparation

Read the App's status first. If it is waiting for the previous execution to stop, wait; recovery is not available yet. When recovery is offered, use the App's recovery action to start a new attempt with existing data. If it remains unavailable or the outcome is uncertain, contact support with the App name and displayed failure details. Do not delete data or reinstall repeatedly to clear the error.

Disable an App

Read the dependency and affected-work warnings before confirming deactivation. Active dependent Apps can prevent it. Deactivation is not data deletion, and reactivation does not undo schema or business-data changes. Check compatibility and access again when resuming.
